About Us

History

The Piñon Project grew out of local neighborhood groups and the Colorado Trust's Healthy Communities Initiative in the early 1990's.  Through the Initiative, Montezuma County engaged in a process of creating a statement of vision for our community's future.  The Piñon Project evolved from that vision statement.

Mission Statement

The Piñon Project Family Resource Center leads initiatives and provides comprehensive services that promote positive outcomes for children and families.

Today, The Piñon Project Family Resource Center is:

  • A place that brings together people and resources needed to support families in Montezuma County.
  • An organization which builds on the strengths found in families of our community.
  • Open to anyone looking for family-related resources, information and support.
  • Run almost entirely by volunteer efforts and by financial contributions of individuals, groups and private and public grants.
  • A source of help where participation is voluntary.
  • A charitable, not for profit corporation.
  • Providers of an empowering environment where children and families are strengthened through education and connection with the community.
